"Religious conservatives donate far more money than secular liberals to all sorts of charitable activities, irrespective of income... extensive data analysis demonstrates that values advocated by conservatives -- from church attendance and two-parent families to the Protestant work ethic and a distaste for government-funded social services -- make conservatives more generous than liberals."
Horse-hockey.
ReplyDeleteI don't give a lot of money to charity. I give my time, which is more valuable.
Many other so-called liberals make caring for people a lifestyle, and they do more for the communities they live in.
If you asked Tom Philpott how much he gives to charity, he may say not much, but he is a partner in a sustainable agricultural venture and writes for a lefty tree-hugger blog.
Come to think of it, that's a great example for his capitalist brother. Tom earns his living by doing good for human beings and for the environment. That is much more important than cutting a check once a year to get the tax writeoff.
