The editor's excuse makes sense (that the cartoons just weren't any good), I suppose. But he should publish them now, so that Nadir and Sara can see the difference between christian nuts and muslim nuts in 2006.
I do believe that most US publications would refrain from publishing jesus cartoons out of fear of letter-writings and boycotts by christian tyrants. This figures into my greater disappointment in the lack of free speach in the supposedly free -- let's call it "the freest" -- world.
