More than half a million deaths, an army trapped in the largest military debacle since Vietnam, a Middle East policy already buried in the sands of Mesopotamia - and still George W Bush is in denial.
How does he do it? How does he persuade himself - as he apparently did in Amman yesterday - that the United States will stay in Iraq "until the job is complete"?
The "job" - Washington's project to reshape the Middle East in its own and Israel's image - is long dead, its very neoconservative originators disavowing their hopeless political aims and blaming Bush, along with the Iraqis of course, for their disaster.

I am no longer convinced that the US military can win, and thus I am beginning to believe that Bush erred in conducting this war. However, I blame the tyrants among the Sunni and Shia Arab populations. The Kurdish population has proven that regardless of various Bush mistakes, the combination of Bush I and Bush ii military actions provided any sensible population with all it needed to produce an independent, prosperous civilization.
ReplyDeleteHowever deluded Bush may be, the difference between him and Hitler/USSR leaders is what they sought. Bush sought to replace a tyranny with a free civilization, the opposite of what Hitler and the USSR leaders did.
