Ayaan Hirsi Ali on Real Time w/Bill Maher
I guess when even that ***hole Bill Maher comes to the realization of Islam as not being a Religion Of Peace ™ there must really be something to it. On a serious note though, Ayaan Hirsi Ali has truly got to be the bravest woman on the face of the earth. What an incredibly impressive person.

She's like a Frederick Douglas. She's amazing. Truly one of my heroes. Real, authentic bravery; not like Louie Farrikhan with his self-aggrandizing bevy of ego-boosting body guards to protect him from phantom enemies, but a woman truly saying things that real tyrants actually seek to kill her (or anybody) for.
I believe that Muslim women rejecting Islam will be the over-riding factor in the so-called Clash of Civilizations.
But then again, men are not allowed to say things that Ayaan Hirsi Ali is allowed because of P.C.
Gary: I think that even a non-white male can get away with criticizing islam, especially a male raised muslim. I believe that Salman Rushdie was born and raised muslim, and the lefties seem to accept his criticisms of it.
On the other hand, even Ali is getting painted by some lefties as an opportunist tool of "islamiphobes", I think.
I got news for you Mr. Hue.
Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan receive death threats every day of their lives.
"On the other hand, even Ali is getting painted by some lefties as an opportunist tool of "islamiphobes", I think.'
What "lefties" Paul?
Probably the same imaginary lefties that you claim say Obama's not 'authentically black'.
I'll have to think this over some more. Do Jessee, Al, and Farrakhan suffer real threats? I suppose it would not shock me if some lunatic were to go after one of those guys. But it never happens; perhaps because of their high security. I might be wrong to conclude that these guys are not attracting violent attention from extremely crazy people on the fringes of society.
Meanwhile the threats against Ali are very tangible, as evidenced by the note attached to the kniefe sticking out of the chest of her friend Van Gogh.
Paul,
Sharpton was stabbed by some white Brooklyn lunatic.
I know how much you dislike them, but your designated "bad negroes" are under the threat of physical harm daily from racists in America.
Ali came to America because even she admitted that the American Muslim community is pretty much assimilated and non-violent.
Steve: Your points are causing me to doubt my initial assessment about the threats to Sharpton, etc. And I do recall Ali stating that she feels much safer in the US.
I am not certain that any lefties have pooh-poohed her, thus my qualification, "I think."
Nadir has confirmed my claim that some black lefties doubted Obama's black bona fides; Nadir characterized this as their just wanted some attention. For whatever reason, it was in reference to such commentaries that the righties began their commentaries on that topic.
I recall Nadir mentioning Debra Dickerson as doubting Obama's bonafides and she is definitely no lefty.
Anyone else? Cuz I listen to black radio regularly and haven't heard it once.
I haven't seen any black liberal columnists make the assertion and I know damn well that no member of the CBC or any black mayors said it.
So who are these mysterious black lefties doubting Obama's authenticity?
Washington Post's Vanessa Williams deals with the Obama "authenticity" deal and who actually has a problem with it.

Steve: Before you issue these sorts of challanged, do you even bother to perform a simple google search? I got bombarded searching: obama black enough.

After listening to black columnists, politicians, ministers and everyday black people question Obama's "blackness," however, I'm dismayed to hear how many in the nation's black community question his allegiance based mostly on his education and lack of a direct link to the civil-rights era or an inner-city background. "Other than color, Obama did not - does not - share a heritage with the majority of black Americans, who are descendants of plantation slaves," wrote Stanley Crouch in his New York Daily News column.

Some of the questions arise from Obama's upbringing in Hawaii, remote from the urban struggles of Chicago's black neighborhoods, and from his heritage as the son of a white mother and Kenyan father.
Debra Dickerson, the black author of "The End of Blackness," caused a small ruckus last month when she wrote for Salon.com that she doesn't consider Obama black. " 'Black' in our political and social reality means those descended from West African slaves," she wrote.
Obama is like a "plaid quilt," said Eddie Read, chairman of the activist Black Independent Political Organization. He fears Obama might be insufficiently committed to fighting for the black community.
"He would not be the black president. He would be the multicultural president," Read said.

ALTHOUGH NOT quite able to pass for white, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) has been able to pass for African American. He is biracial, but not white; black, but not African American; American but not African. What has entranced the country more than his somewhat vague policies is Obama's challenge to conventional racial and cultural categories.
Among African Americans, discussions about his racial identity typically vacillate between the ideologically charged options of "black" versus "not black enough" or between "black" and "black, but not like us."
The NYT writer is a white lefty. I don't know why the white lefties are talking about this and making these points. IN any case, they support obama.
