Freedom From Fear Lifts Sunnis in Iraqi Election

This NYT article doesn't seem to jibe too well with Nadir's assessment of why there was such an enormous turnout (Sunni's included) for yesterday's Parliamentary election in Iraq.

I can't find evidence anywhere that any Iraqis voted because they feared retailiation from US troops for not voting. Yet I found many news reports of Sunnis saying that they voted because they think that will lead to US withdrawl. So they're not scared of criticizing the US troops... yet they voted because they are scared that these troops will retailiate against them for not voting? I like what one journalist reported that an Iraqi said: "Those who don't appreciate what the US and Bush have done for us, they can go to hell."
