I heard last night on the radio a discussion of the racist overtones of the tale of King Kong (Kong brought back in chains from an island inhabited by dark-skinned natives, etc.), equating it with colonial-era slavery.
Now, maybe it's because of my naive, white, middle-class upbringing that this notion never occurred to me before, but I must admit, after it was brought to my attention the parallel's are interesting.
Any opinions on this?

What I find racist is banning non-white actors from any of the juicy roles.
