I sure do miss those days of being a liberal. Not that the conservatives are much better. They don't shout down people, but they are just as likely to try to block somebody from speaking (in which case they would helpfully label Louis Farrakan as a hate speaker, and then protect us all from his comments), get a person fired, or extract an apology. And wanting to imprison people for burning their own flag is disgusting. But we must unify against all of this behavior, from both sides. Right?
PS: Will the anti-speach people ever learn that these actions just give their opponents more publicity? Would Ann Coulter have made the papers if her "hate" speach had merely gone forward?

Liberals are "tolerant" as long as you say what they want to hear. The only hate speech I ever hear is from the left. This is just an example of the liberal's "compassionate"love speech

Sounds like hate speech to me. If Ann Coulter wasn't a hot blonde, she would be deemed an ignorant right-wing ideologue and would be ignored. As it is, she is irrelevant.

Nadir: So you believe that Ann should be banned from speaking? Don't you think that people who want to hear her presentation should have that right, and that you and Tom can have lecture to explain why she is wrong?
I believe, though, that the right wingers are just as bad as the liberals in this area. It is true that in the specific case of shouting down public speakers, only the liberals do that. But only right wingers want to imprison people for burning American flags that they own. So for those two factors, they are even. On all the other factors, the are equally deplorable:
- Liberals tried to ban Ann Coulter from speaking at the university; Conservatives try to ban Louis Farrakan.
- Liberals got Dr. Laura fired from her TV show (before it even broadcasts!); Conservatives got Bill Mahr fired from his TV show.
- Liberals try to fire professors who present data showing average IQ scores for Asians, honkies, and blacks; Conservatives try to fire that Colorado professor who called the 911 victims "little Eichmans."
- Liberals tried to force Trent Lott to appologize for his racist remark about Strom Thurmond; Conservatives try to force John Kerry for saying that US troops terrorize Iraqi civilians.
- Members from both sides are about 100% likely to apply the First Amendment Nullification Strategy: "The First Amendment doesn't prevent me from excercizing my right to boycott companies that advertise on Bill Marh/Dr. Laura."
