Lotteries Fund Themselves, Not Schools
State officials advocate state-sponsored lotteries to "fund school", but of the millions incoming from ticket sales, most goes out as jackpots, marketing, and salaries, with participating states only getting about 1% of their education budget from this source. What business has government in the business of gambling host and promoter? None, I say. I wonder how the govt income compares between state-owned lotteries and private-run casinos.
