"We do not torture"

And war is peace, etc.

Key quote:
Over White House opposition, the Senate has passed legislation banning torture. With Vice President Dick Cheney as the point man, the administration is seeking an exemption for the CIA. It was recently disclosed that the spy agency maintains a network of prisons in eastern Europe and Asia, where it holds terrorist suspects.

Funny how they left out the word "allegedly" as in "recently disclosed that the spy agency "allegedly" maintains a network of prisons in eastern Europe and Asia, where it holds terrorist suspects."

Just an honest mistake I'm sure. I mean, we all know the media has no agenda, right?

Six: I think that although the US military tortures less than all the muslim armies, it has certainly demonstrated that it is torturning, and this acts to the strong detriment of our effort to install a democracy. While it is true that terrorists fail to qualify for the Geneva Conventions, why not observe them anyway? Do we not want these murderous bastards to either perhaps observe them on their captives, or at least provide them no extra excuses to voilate them? I agree with you that the press tends to accept (and propigate) any anti-US charge that comes along. But the only reason that I support the US is because I believe that the US isn't just a little better than the murderous despots, but a *LOT* better.

I no longer trust Bush to conduct a torture-free war, and that's the only kind of war that I think has a chance of winning.
