Conservative Top 50

Six-String Slinger will appreciate this, though I think some of them are a stretch.

Linked above is National Review's list of its top 50 conservative rock songs, with the magazine's explanations of its choices.

Many of the tunes are by avowed lefties, but the article's author claims they all preach conservative values.

One glaring ommission: James Brown's "I Don't Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing" (Open Up the Door I'll Get It Myself)

I only know about 5 of the songs. I rate Revolution and Satisfaction as great. Revolution rather directly takes a shot at US commie romantics, and succeeded in captivating me even when I was a commie romantic (it even caused me to take a critical look at myself!).

I think that overtly political songs are the hardest to make work, along with religious songs. Different thoughts and ideas work better with different art forms. Essays make excellent mechanisms for expressing political commentaries, but can be too "on the nose" for expressions of love and other amorphous senations.
