Invisible in Plain Sight: CIA Torture Techniques Go Mainstream

Critical loopholes in the McCain amendment show that the once-clandestine practice of torture is now an official weapon in the War on Terror.

Nadir: I fully agree with you on this issue. The good guys cannot benefit from practicing torture, and it hurts their cause. The promotion of a torture-free war effort represents what I consider to be a non-negotiable pillar of a best effort to defeat tyrany and replace it with a democracy. While it is technically correct that the geneva conventions do not apply to non-uniformed personnel, I consider it to be a severe military mistake to not only apply it here, but to refrain from using even torture permitted by it.

My friend Vassar in Iraq, who supports the US war, claims that this was not only a mistake, but the biggest mistake made by the US troops.

There are portions of the Geneva Convention that DO apply to non-uniformed persons. They forbid torture as well.

The Bush regime has ignored this and other international treaties which is a direct violation of constitutional law. The entire cabal should be indicted for this and other crimes.
