Mexico Legalizes Drugs

And Cafe Hayek applauds. Too bad Mexico only legalized small amounts, instead of the entire drug trade enterprise. Let's hope that street crime drops, providing evidence for US voters and lawmakers to see the light.

Didn't happen. Your government threatened Fox, and like the poodle he is, he capitulated. It seems he got a call from the US government and changed his mind.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - In a surprise reversal, Mexican President Vicente Fox will not sign a widely criticized reform to decriminalize the possession of small quantities of marijuana, cocaine and heroin, his office said on Wednesday.

The president's office said the law, which also toughened sentences for dealing and holding larger amounts of the intoxicants, would be sent back to Congress for revision.

Nadir: Your govt is wrong -- super wrong -- on this, we both agree. On the subject of drugs, your govt is stupid. But I'm afraid that it's your countrymen who are stupid, and your politicians are just giving them what they want: a very retarded policy, which violates the US constitution.
