Hugo's Socialist State Is Working Really Well, Eh?

Meat, sugar scarce in Venezuela stores:

"President Hugo Chavez's administration blames the food supply problems on unscrupulous speculators (well of course he does), but industry officials say government price controls that strangle profits are responsible (sounds just a little more likely to me). Authorities on Wednesday raided a warehouse in Caracas and seized seven tons of sugar hoarded by vendors unwilling to market the inventory at the official price. (that's nice)"

And thus the peasants will get 7 cheap tons of sugar! I wonder how much more sugar will come flowing out of the sky, or wherever else sugar comes from when not created by evil greadheads. Meanwhile in the diabolical USA -- where so many Venezuelans immigrate, and none ever return! -- see if you can find any "poor" people with a lack of sugar (or cavities! or obesity!).

I wonder how easy it is in that petro-rich nation to even find petro stations with non-empty tanks.

Where are you getting your statistics on Venezuelan immigration?

I suppose you guys would prefer that Venezuela use subsidies like the US?

Actually I have seen no stats on Venezuelan - US immigration; I am making an assumption based on these stats for many other nations, including those in the Caribian and South America.

As you know, I oppose US ag subsidies, for the same reasons that I oppose other govt schemes to manipulate the economy.
