No big deal

Technology is supposed to bail us out of the oil crunch; can it bring back the glaciars? And if it can't?

Tom: You ask if technology can resolve the petro crisis, as it has every energy crisis that humans have faced before. I assume that we have not reached some special point in human history we we start to drift backwards. As for "bringing back the glaciers", I no more expect technology to perform that miricle than to "bring back dinasours" or "bring back the cellestial arrangements seen by the ancients that have now shifted." I expect, again, for more of the same: the world changes, and humanity's innovations lead if forward. With the advent and expansion of capitalism, I expect that a larger fraction of humanity will enjoy even more protection then ever before.
