My take: We in advanced nations have nothing at all to fear. A deadly infectious epidemic is impossible amongst people living in modern sanitary conditions, consuming the diet common to such people. We who live in such circumstances have marvelous sanitary conditions, which-- coupled with McDonald's diets-- causes us to generally survive microbial infections and die at 75 after years of obesity, arthritis, cancer, etc. But death by microbe? That's strickly for people suffering with tenuous health... or who are injected with innoculums of much greater amount than can be naturally acquired. Relax. And if you're worried about people in poor countries, support the development of free market-based democracy. That's ultimately the the greatest source of robust health that humanity has ever known.
