And Republicans, conservatives and rightists are racists?

Can't wait to read Nadir's outrage - or lack of as the case may be - for this.

It's a doctored photo that was created by a guy who has been promoting Ned Lamont. Trying to stir up controversy where it doesn't need to be stirred. Lieberman is certainly going to lose among Connecticut Blacks anyway. This is just stupid.

My outrage may be underwhelming to you, but I'm sure you aren't really surprised that there are racists in both the Democratic and Republican parties. Not all Republicans are racist, and yes some Democrats are.

The Dems' oft-discussed disdain for Black folks is well-known. Given a better alternative, most Blacks would vote for it. However, Republican economic policies are by and large detrimental to Blacks. The policies aren't racist per se. Mostly classist.

Right-wing policies like anti-affirmative action and school vouchers aren't inherently racist, but they pretend to naively assume that we're living in an America with a level playing field. That just isn't the truth, and you guys know it (though you refuse to admit it). This is why I oppose both of those policies. It's because racism still exists in America, not because those policies in and of themselves are racist or because the people who advocate the policies are racist.

So Paul's boring charge that I find Republicans, conservatives, rightists and their policies (or anyone else who disagrees with me) racist is a lie - a complete misstatement of my opinion. Racism exists, but it isn't the main problem that faces Blacks or other people of color in the world today. I have said this before many times.

Right-wingers just want to take any advantage they can get. It's more about capitalism and evolutionism than racism. Attack the other guy from any angle you can. If you can use his poverty against him, so be it. If you can use his race against him, so be it. If you can use his religion against him, so be it. Whatever is necessary to achieve more wealth and power. Insult the other guy's mother. Bomb his children. Take away his government funding. Lie about him having weapons or being a terrorist or being a racist. Anything so that "my guys" can have an unfair advantage.

Democrats of the DLC-Lieberman-Kerry-Clinton stripe are certainly of the same ilk. So while this is very disappointing, it is not surprising and frankly not outrageous. Six, I am much more outraged that intelligent people like you and Paul would support Israel's massacres than I am about some stupid racist Democrats trying to race-bait Blacks into turning against Joe Lieberman.

I expect the Democrats to be ignorant. They've proven their stupidity time and again.

Looks like they pulled the photo.

Hugh Hewitt nails it at radioblogger.com:

"Tell me which political party in this country has a problem with race? I know the stereotype is to say Republicans, but this wasn't done by any Republicans. This is from the Huffington Post's very liberal Jane Hamsher, who also blogs at Firedoglake, and who also is dogging Senator Lieberman around the campaign trail in Connecticut. This image appeared in her column, and was shown briefly on the Drudge Report, then suddenly disappeared. Comments about it, too. It's like it never happened. We have a call into Arianna to comment on it, and as of yet, have not gotten a call back.

So Mel Gibson does something grotesquely offensive, gives as thorough an apology as I can remember any public figure giving, and still gets blasted by the left.

Hamsher commits a racial offense toward a United States Senator that is repellent enough to warrant immediate removal from Huffington's site, but with no explanation or apology. It's as if to say, essentially, 'Move along, nothing more to see here.' Not much of a double standard here, is there?"

I'd say that about sums it up.

Nadir: I am glad we now have you on record stating that all repos aren't racist, and that positions like vouchers and elimination of AA don't make a person a racist. I will remember that and hold you to this statement. I think this is a correct view.

On another point: I will never cease deriving entertainment value from you, Tom, and others claiming that Bush "lied about WMDs" when he merely advanced what everybody else believed at the time, and that no evidence at the time proved to anybody that Iraq lacked these banned weapons at that time. Nobody on this earth at the time of the invasion, including you, predicted that Bush would find no such weapons. To the contrary, many people from your "peace" camp loudly expected US troops to die en masse from such weapons. In order for Bush to have "lied" he would have to have known as a fact that such WMDs did not exist in Iraq; clearly he knew no such thing. The only evidence proving an absence of such weapons in Iraq is the findings of US troops who invaded and took control of the entire nation.
