Iran Rejects Conditions for Nuclear Talks

We knew this was going to happen based on the Ahmadinejad interview below. The US knew it was going to happen too. The offer was disingenuous in the first place.

Iran's position seems logical to me. They say they are pursuing a nuclear energy program for peaceful purposes only. And even if they were pursuing a weapons program, why is it that only a few Western nations (the victors of a 60 year old conflict and their allies) have the right to nukes?

Bush has even said he would use nukes in Iran! To stop developing the nuclear program would be almost suicide for the Persians.

The only threat from the US or Isreal from a US/Isreali attack of Iran comes from the threats of Iranians leaders to eradicate Isreal.

I suppose I believe that the US president should talk negotiate with this guy, since he negotiates with lots of other tyrants. Same for Castro; why not? However, this view counters the old "Boycott South Africa" movement.

The Iranian president didn't threaten to eradicate Israel. He was misquoted.

The US negotiated with SA for years before political pressure forced the international community to get tough with the Apartheid govt. Different situation though.

The Iranians are exercising their right to have legal nuclear energy under the Non-Proliferation treaty. SA was denying rights to the majority African population.

How is the situation different? Do Iranians have rights? Why do you support external presssure to get rights, freedoms, and authentic elections for aparteid South Africa, but not contemporary Iran and Zimbabwe?
