Global Warming? And if so, caused by what?

This MIT climatology prof refutes Al Gore's conclusions and claims, including his assessment that "the debate is settled."

The debate on global warming is far from over. The problem is that the varied opinions are tainted by political wrangling.

The Bush administration has a reputation for changing the science for its own purposes, so we should ignore anything that comes from that source.

Government scientists in the USGS have done extensive study on this subject, and they have concluded that the mean temperature in North America has indeed been rising at an alarming rate.

I would counter that though greenhouse gases may be affecting climate change, the earth is known to have climate changes periodically. My estimation would be that we are due for some natural shifts in climate that could be accelerated by humankind's actions.
