Good work, Six. I'm glad to see that Isreal isn't doing what Nadir claims it is. Of course, Nadir opposes Isreal if they bomb no matter what, with or without warning, with or without targetting civillians.

Good work,Six. The nearly 600 Lebanese people who have died are of no consequence to you, and you don't give a shit that they had nothing to do with Hezbollah except that they were in the vicinity of Hezbollah locations.

The British didn't indescriminately destroy the Irish people when they were being bombed by the IRA. Why is Israel held to a different standard?

Nadir: I'm sure that Six joins me in lamenting any and all civillian deaths from Ireal's response. But in a city with a population of several hundred thousand, and given its size and density of structures, the numbers of civillian deaths and the amount of civillian destruction compared with the amount of Isreali munitions creates a general picture much different than what we see in the press. These facts in combination argue forcefully that the Isrealis are not targetting civillians, as you and others claim. Six's comments, meanwhile, do not indicate that he lacks sympathy for civillians, or that he wants anything other than complete safety and prosperity for them.

Nadir: I am very much warming to your view that Isreal should not have invaded, and that its goal of achieving secure, stagnant borders for itself, and peaceful, productive relations with all of its neighbors. I'm about 80% sure that Isreal is taking the wrong approach, that it has fallen into a trap. It appears that the Hezbohs didn't expect that Isreal would fall into its trap when it did (the proximate incident being the Hezboh raid into Isreal wherein to troops got captured).

None the less, Isreal is in Lebanon killing civillians, weakening Lebanon's democratic government, decreasing the ability of peaceful and intelligent Lebanese to construct a modern civilliaztion, and strengthening the popular appeal in Lebanon for the backwards, retarded views and actions of Hezbollah. Meanwhile, more Isrealis (civillians and troops) are dying, and more Isreali material resources (millitary and civillian) are getting destroyed then if Isreal had continued its years-old strategy of countering Hezboh strikes with very limitted counter-attacks, diplomacy, and publicity.

I believe that if Isreal really was what Nadir and Tom consider it to be -- a Nazi regime -- they could win this war... by rolling through Lebanon and killing and destroying everything. Insread, Isreal represents a modern civilization, which means that it does merely target military personel and resources. And it appears that such an approach cannot defeat a guerrilla force of barbarian ignoramouses. To the contrary, a civilized military attempting to combat barbarians in the modern world leads to an ugly quagmire in which the civilized people both unfairly appear barbaric, or in some cases even get dragged down into authentic acts of barbarianism.

The meaningful test of the claim made by this article is how fast Beruit recovers from Isreal's invasion.
