FEAR FACTORY: Judge Throws Out Cell Phone Conspiracy Case

"A federal judge threw out conspiracy and money laundering charges Tuesday against three Texas men who originally were accused of planning terrorism, saying there wasn't enough evidence to bring them to trial."

Okay. Call me gullible, but when I heard that these guys bought 80 cell phones at a Wal-Mart, I completely bought their "We're going to take them to Texas and resell them" story. It looks like both the state and federal judges agreed. WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE SO FREAKIN' AFRAID????

I have no reason to doubt their claims; they also seemed reasonable to me, although it is curious that Walmart is selling anything at costs so low as to serve as wholesale prices for another operation. If the judge threw out the case himself, that certainly indicates a lack of evidence. However, that's not the same as disproving the suspicion. I am prepared to believe that the police sought to make the biggest deal possible out of their extraordinary discovery.

What are people scared of? Arab muslims, due to the worldwide war waged by many of them against civilization.

If indeed the dudes are innocent, here the criminal system worked.

Good thing that the DA didn't hold a press conference and announce that the guys are surely guilty, that their extended family and friedns have erected "a wall of silence", and that further investigations would guarantee confirmation of the DA's conclusion of guilt in the form of phone call records linking these guys to known convicted terrorists. Then when the further investigations return no phone connections with known terrorists, he declares: "Well, they're surely guilty anyway, and most terror cases go forward without phone record evidence."

Would Nadir keep his mouth shut in such a case?

I'm afraid because folks like you make up a sizeable portion of the U.S. population who for various reasons - politics, stupidity, ignorance, useful-idiocy, etc. - have their heads in the sand, or rammed up their asses so far that they can't, or refuse to see the threat we face from a real, tangible enemy that wishes to inflict as much damage to us and our way of life as they are able.

Perhaps the criminally unjust system worked for a change. This doesn't explain why the dudes were profiled and arrested on flimsy evidence in the first place. Their faces were flashed all over the country and now they will be watched for the rest of their lives as "suspected terrorists" when in fact they were suspected cell phone resellers.

Yes, I bought their story from the beginning, but I didn't talk about their case on a blog until the case was dismissed.

On the other hand, in the Duke rape case, to which Paul is referring, I will defend no party because no one is credible. Too many problems. The evidence will have to bear it out.

The evidence in the Duke case is much more well-known than for this cell phone - terror case. Surely enough is known to make an opinion, more than is known in this case. Nadir, do you know *any* facts about this cell phone case, except that a judge tossed it?

Yes. The guys bought 80 phones at a Wal-mart and had a bunch of them in their van. They were of Middle Eastern descent. The pigs racially profiled them and accused them of terrorism.

Had they been white, they wouldn't have been arrested.
