Nadir: Unless you're joking, I really must question your reading comprehension. Are you seriously interpretting what Six and I write as "Islam hatred"? Do you authentically interpretting my collecting writings as indicating that I have any less respect overall for Islam than for any other fairy tale, including christianity, judiasm, etc.?

OK, I do think that the teachings of christ are less rediculous than those of many of these other people, including Moses and Mohammad. But really, Nadir, can you seriously justify labeling me an "Islam hater"?

Nadir: And what in this article would disappoint Six and me? Six and I hate the people who want to enforce non-freedom on their fellows, especially when using terrorism to achieve this retarded quest. Many of the biggest such efforts on earth today involve people espousing Islam as their motivation; we do hate those people. Please specify what in this article, wherein the current funny-dressing pope explains that he meant "no offense", would displease Six and me.

And remember that when I described muslim women wearing "funny cloths" that you branded me a "racist" who "feared other religions." Note that above I labled the pope's cloths "funny", and here I declare his outfit even sillier than those of muslim women; much sillier. If somebody donning such serious Catholic attire traipsed through any US city, he would get stares. Would that make the starers "racists"? Would they "fear" catholicism?

Or, are you a "racist", because you call people "racist" and brand them as "afraid" in such matters only if they are white and stare at the funny costumes of non-whites?

That's a classic tactic Paul. Mr. "Free Speech" here ends, or attempts to end/win the discussion by labeling us "Islam haters", or racists. You're all for free speech Nadir, until that speech is something you find offensive.

Have fun in D.C. with your wacko 60's wannabe protester pals, and make sure you give us a full report back on how many times your free speech is infringed upon while you're there and also on how many times you and your pals shout down your opposition.

Oh, and then maybe when you return you might buy a plane ticket to Tehran, or Beijing and protest in the streets those government's policies. I'd make that a one-way ticket though, because I doubt you'll be coming back. Not in one piece anyway.

What a fool.

Six: I issued my report below. Check it out.

Some Iraq war vets got arrested for placing flyers in the Pentagon chapel. That's right, paper. It talked about the dangers of depleted uranium, an illegal weapon that OUR government is using on Iraqis that is also harming our own troops!

But the Pentagon doesn't care about its troops. They don't even care enough to provide good benefits much less stop using an illegal weapon that is causing birth defects in American, Iraqi and Bosnian children.

And I'm the fool? You're the one who still believes in these bozos and follows them blindly.

Fascist Fool!! Yes, I'm calling names!

Paul: Just about every time you guys talk about Muslims or about Islam it could be described as hate speech. Except when you say, "Oh, here is a Muslim that isn't backward and uncivilized."

So am I supposed to give you a pass because you are an equal opportunity hater?

Six was talking about how brave the Pope was to stand up to Islam. He even wondered who would be target of and assassination plot first.

What the pope said wasn't brave. In fact, if his goal is "to cultivate a position of respect and dialogue towards other religions and cultures..." then his statement was stupid. He should be working to cultivate peace, not creating more division, which is something Jon Paul II was good at. Even when he was being a hardline Catholic, Jon Paul (much like Clinton) had a way of sugarcoating the bad medicine to make it palatable for everyone.

But regardless, I'm talking about you guys. I figured you would be disappointed that the pope didn't intend to denegrate Islam. You guys do it all the time, so I thought you'd enjoy the support from the pontif.

Y'all are haters. And that is correct Dirty South grammar...

That's why I love these debates - what a thoughtful and poigniant comeback!

Hmmm, sorry. I guess I'm just not an enlightened by-product of higher education as are you.

Nadir: I agree with all your criticisms of the Pentagon not caring about its troops, and about the congressional and executive supporters of this war who do not provide the troops with the support that they warrent. However, I believe that even if the these people truly did support the troops, you would still oppose this war, and would just find other things to criticise. But I view that as good, because there should be determined critics to scrutinize anything so dire as a war.

I also agree on your position about any protesters that got arrested for petty offenses such as littering, etc., though I don't know the facts. In the US, people can speak freely without fear of government reprisals, but that doesn't mean that they have (or even should have) the "freedom" to put paper any where they want.

Nadir: Did the arrested soldiers do something that they wouldn't have gotten arrested for had they done what they did with flyers for Amway, abortion opposition, or my kid's school's band's raffle?

I was serious...

"However, I believe that even if the these people truly did support the troops, you would still oppose this war, and would just find other things to criticise."

That's absolutely true. But coming from a miltary family, I don't like seeing the troops mistreated. If you're going to force them to do something illegal, at least give them the resources to do it quickly and come out with the least amount of harm coming to them and the civilians they are ordered to target.

Arrested? At worst they should have been thrown out and the flyers thrown away. They were flyers. Pieces of paper.

They said they put them among other "political material" like "How to live a good Christian life as a soldier" and camoflage copies of the New Testament.

Nadir: Six and I don't ask for a "pass" on this "Islam hating" charges; we are innocent of it.

You admit that I am an "equal opportunity" ridiculer of all religions, yet you only chide me ridicule as "hate" when it targets Islam. For example, you recoiled with indignation when I described the muslim girl's garb as "funny", but offered no objection to my statement that the leader of the world's catholics wears an even funnier costume. Thus you are prejudiced, not me.

Furthermore, you will not find even a single example of me or Six making any special comments directed at Islam in general, *ONLY* those within Islam who actively seek to force people around them to practice Islam, and to abide by such ancient rules as stoning to death women who have extra-marital sex. We call such people barbaric, backwards, uncivilized, etc. You cannot find a single example of Six or me calling Islam in general such charactorizations. Not one!

We do point with delight at muslims who share our view, who abhor the Bin Ladists and Mullah Omarists. We never hold them as rare examples of non-backwards muslims, but rather as rare examples of such muslims who will speak clearly and publically against the significant minority of barbarous, murderous muslims around the world who work to beat and execute those in their midst who "offend" them with their own personal opinions or conduct.

I agree with you that the one comment by the Pope was generally anti-Islam, his quote from the Byzantine Emperor. I think that was a bizarre person to source, and a bizarre quotation to advance, a comment that indeed criticized Islam in general. Now, I make such comments about Islam, but also about other religions, including the Pope's absurd and preposterous catholicism. Surely you recall my many declarations that indeed Zionism is racism, and even more, Judaism itself I consider to be racist. The jewish costumes are crazy, the catholic costumes are crazy, the catholic claims about needing to accept claims about jesus to avoid eternal damnation, jewish claims of representing "god's chosen people", all crazy. But what fraction of even devote christians and jews still wear the silly costumes from 1,000 years ago? What fraction would kill me for saying that Jesus and Moses were both a couple of fags? As best I can tell: zero.

The president of Iran frequently issues criticisms of christianity that I totally embrace, about the preposterousness and illogic of claims of christ's "trinity", the virgin birth, crucifiction enabling sins to be forgiven, etc. But no christian is going to kill him for this. The pope makes his own criticism against islam, and he does seriously face threats from muslims in Europe who would kill him for this.

Please give me and Six some examples from around the world wear christians are killing people for rediculing jesus, or using christianity as an excuse to impose very barbaric ancient acts of cruelty.

Am I a racist for proclaiming that the Amish honkies in Penselvania wear very silly cloths, and that they should expect stares and gawks if they walk through Detroit by people who are not "racist", just curious about something strange to them?

Paul Hue said...

When the president of Iran redicules the basis of christianity, I notice zero cries of outrage from people and officials around the world who consider themselves to be christians. But the head of the catholics makes a criticism of islam, and hundreds of thousands of people around the world become angry, and national officials organize and issue formal responses. For me to therefore conclude that on average muslims are less mature and sophisticated than christians in no way qualifies as "hatred" of islam.

Rather my comments demonstrate that I think that mature, sophisticated people can accept criticism of their beliefs without going nuts. I certainly believe that the US populion of "christians" is not 100% sophisticated or mature. If they were, they would not demand "God" on our currency or permission of judges to plant the ten commandment in courthouses. But on average, I rate the world's christians as on average more sophisticated and mature than the world's muslims... and many muslims agree with me. These are the muslims that Six and I adore and publicize on this blog.

A thousand years ago or so, the world's muslims were on average more mature, sophisticated, and civilized than were the world's christians. A few thousands of years before that, the peoples of Iraq and Iran enjoyed another period where they had achieved more of these charactoristics on average than their contemporaries in europe.

Nadir, how on earth can you interpret these views of mine as "hatred" for muslims or islam, or "racist"? I think that you have a reading comprehension problem, and that it derives from racism on your part.

I concede, Paul. You are an equal opportunity hater and I am repulsed by your condemnation of the pope's strikingly sophisticated 15th Century clerical garb.
