Walmart Evil?

Lefties claim Walmart pays too little, but 25,000 apply for 350 openings. Chicago democrats require a "minimum wage", resulting in zero Walmarts in Chicago... and hundreds of thousands of Chicagoans traveling to the subburbs to spend billions of dollars at scores subburban Walmart outposts, as well as thousands of Chicagoans commuting there to work. But at least the politicians get to congradulate themselves for protecting Chicagoans from getting "exploited" by Walmart within their city limits. Good show!

Oh, that evil Wal-Mart:

Wal-Mart to Offer $4 Generic Prescriptions:

I wonder, will this win them any brownie-points with you Wal-Mart-haters? Probably not.

Six: As you and I already have learned (and Tom and Nadir may still yet), the most effective mechanism in the history of humanity in relieving poverty and providing the best goods and services (including medicine) to the most people has been the pursuit of profit. The article pointed out that by lowering prices of goods, Walmart helps "poor" people. Chicago's "caring" "minimum wage" law means that these poor people have to travel considerable distances to get those low prices... and with a transaction that provides no local sales tax.
